Thalli erect, regularly dichotomously branched, fastigiate, branches erect, patent; thalli measure 3 -9 cm height. Cells oblong at the upper part, three times as long as broad; cells in the lower part of the thallus sub-cylindrical, constricted at the junction between superposed cells, 3-4 times as long as broad; the apex cells flattened rarely.
Ecology
On rocks, stones and shells, lower intertidal pools and subtidal, in sheltered waters, occasional to frequent, widely distributed.
Distribution in India
Muttam, Chinna Muttam (Tamil Nadu).
