Thalli cylindrical, sub-dichotomously branched, ramified at the distal ends, branches sub-fastigiate, several fronds arising from a more or less discoid holdfast, thalli up to 9 cm in height and 1-2.5 mm thick. In, section, medulla differentiated in to inner and outer medulla; outer medulla 1-3 layers of small oblong cells measures 60-208 μm long and 40-135 μm broad; inner medulla consists of large ovoid cells, 220-290 μm long and 170-215 μm broad. Cortex 1-2 layers, outer layer of narrowly elongate cells measure 23-32 μm long and 8-13 μm broad; inner layer shows radially compressed cells, 20-31 μm long and 15-23 μm broad.
Ecology
Lithophytic and occurs in Upper mid littoral zone, tide pools.
Distribution in India
Cape Comorion, Idinthakarai, Pudumandam, Tiruchendur, Tuticorin (Tamil Nadu).
