    Fronds erect, tufts, 12-35 cm or more in height, 2-3.5mm thick attenuated both at the base and towards the apex; branching dichotomous to pinnate, main branches long, slightly curved, gradually tapering to a subulate point. Branches terete, compressed in the middle. Cortex one or two layers of pigmented cells; medulla 6-7 layers of large thin-walled cells gradually becoming smaller in the outer layers. The transition from the cortex to the medulla is abrupt. Cystocarps are sessile, globose to hemispherical or conical with prominent ostiole, Gonimonemata present and Tetrasporangia scattered.
