Thallus dark brown to yellowish-brown in colour, prostrate attached crustose to semi erect. Thallus flattened circular to fan-shaped or irregularly-shaped blades 5-11 cm in diameter and 270-310 μm thick, thalli often with concentric growth lines. Frond margins not circinate, bunchs of short hairs occurs on both surfaces of thllus. Cross section of thalli shows single layer of medulla made up of large rectangular cells, 79-95 μm length and 24-49 μm width; cortex consists of 3 layers of rectangular to squares cells, 14-27 μm length and 18-37 width and thick walled cells and a single layer superficial oblong cells exhibits by longitudinal divisions. Tetrasporangia occur in sori covered by indusium, tetrasporangia sessile, 95-130 μm long and 80-95 μm broad.
Ecology
Epilithic, occurs in rock pools, and from the sublittoral fringe.
