Thalli dark green, spherical, hollow, stiff-brittle structures 2-4 cm in diameter. Specimens slightly convoluted at maturation; and finally being basin-like because the original hollow plant ruptured. Thallus composed of large, polygonal cells, 1–2.5 mm wide, arranged in a single layer. Basal region of the mature thallus regenerate into numerous new, spherical thallus that are closely packed. Thallus attached by numerous, small hapteron cells produced by the basal cells 100 – 300 µm wide.
Ecology
Epilithic on horizontal rock substrate during low tide level.

Okha Port (Gujarat), Krusadii Island (Tamil Nadu), Andaman Islands.
