Thalli saxicolous, grows up to 30 cm in height, light brown to dark, branching monopodial. Thallus with multiaxial construction, measuring 500-1900 µm in width: medulla 150-445 µm in diameter. Assimilatory filaments non - clavate branched up to 3 order and 40-53 cells in height. Assimilatory cells cylindrical, 13-40 X 3-9 µm. Basal region of assimilatory filaments consists of sub-spherical or obovate cells, 4-8 X 5- 10 µm.
Monosporangia single or in pair on undifferentiated branches of short assimilatory filaments or in clusters of 4-9 on differentiated branches. Monosporangia obovoid, 12-23 µm in length and 7-15 µm in width; stalk cells 8-16 µm in length and 4-12 µm in width. Sporangiums regenerate from the released sporangial mother cell.
