Colony consists of 4-8 cells, arranged in linearly or slightly alternating. Cells long, cylindrical or ellipsoidal with rounded poles and cells measure 17-28 μm long and 5-9 μm broad. Cell walls usually smooth and the inner cells lacks teeth spines or occasionally with teeth spines. The marginal cells shows straight or slightly curved long spine at the poles and with straight or slightly convex outer side wall.
Ecology
Thalli collected as plankton form Lakes, Ponds and Rivers.
