Colony consists of 4-8 cells, arranged linearly or slightly alternate cells. Cells long, cylindrical or ellipsoidal with rounded poles and measure 21-37 μm long and 7-13 μm broad. The inner cells show with or without long spines and longitudinal ribs continuous or interrupted at the poles. Cell walls show longitudinal micro granules. The marginal cells with straight or slightly curved long spines at the poles and straight or slightly convex outer side.
