    Cells tri-radiate or quadri-radiate about 1.4 times longer than broad. Cell deeply constricted with slightly elongate Isthmus; sinus widely open; cells measure 11-38 µm in length; 15-40 µm in breadth (with spines), 12-17 µm in breadth (without spines), 6-9 µm broad at isthmus. Semi cells bowl-shaped with short upwardly projected spines at each apical angle. Cell wall smooth; chloroplast axile, one per semi cell with a central pyrenoid each.


Ecology

It prefers oligo-mesotrophic water bodies.

Jammu and Kashmir; Kerala; Madhya Pradesh; West Bengal (Gupta, 2012). Ezhichur Lake in Kancheepuram District (Maheswari and Baluswami, 2017) Tamil Nadu.
