    Cells more or less broad than long, deeply constricted with open shallow, V-shaped sinus. Cells 30-43 µm in length, 47-75 µm in breadth (with processes), 10-15 µm in breadth (without processes), 7-13 µm broad at isthmus; spines 2-5 µm long. Semi cells bowl-shaped, apical angles with parallel or converged, denticulate processes, end with bifid or trifid spines. Cell wall ornamented with denticulations, emarginated verrucae on ventral margin at base of semi cells.


Ecology

Planktonic alga, prefers circum-neutral water bodies.


Distribution in India

Sikkim (Das and Keshri, 2016); Thirumayam, Pattukottai, Tamil Nadu (Perumal and Anand, 2008).
