Filaments straight or twisted, without gelatinous sheath and fragile. Cells jointed by cylindrical processes of the apical margin of cell. Cells measure 26-41μm in length and 60-70 μm in breadth. Cells deeply constricted at the center, sinus open, isthmus 16-25 μm. Semicells elliptical with rounded margins and basal angles and apical margin with a small elevation giving rise to cylindrical process. Semi cells smooth cell wall, circular in vertical view and elliptical in lateral view.
Ecology
Free floating freshwater alga prefers oligo-mesotrophic water bodies.
