Cells medium size, circular to oblong, deeply constricted having dilated extremities; sinus linear and closed. Cells measures 57-71 µm long, 49-62 µm broad, isthmus 11-15 µm wide. Semi cells 5 lobed, two pairs of lateral lobes broadly rounded and one trapezoid polar lobe; cell wall ornamented with short spines measuring 1-1.5 µm long and granules arrangement in circular.
Ecology
Occurs in mesotrophic water bodies.

Uttarkhand (Misra et al., 2008); Hydrebad (Venkateswarlu, 1976), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Prasad and Misra,1992), Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal (Gupta, 2012), Northern Goa (Kerker and Lobo, 2009), Assam (Deka et al., 2011); Salem, Kancheepuram, Kanyakumari Districts, Tamil Nadu (Maheswari and Baluswami, 2017a, 2017c).
