Cells small, smooth, pyramidal in shape, deeply constricted at isthmus, sinus linear and closed; apex truncated with slightly depressed notch at center. Semi cells three lobed with distinct polar lobe; cell wall without any ornamentation; margins with undulations. Chloroplast one per semi cell, axile with a pyrenoid at center. Cells 18-37 µm long, 11-23 µm broad, and 3-8 µm broad at isthmus.
Ecology
Planktonic, Acidophilous and occurs in oligotrophic water bodies.
