Cells very small; cells as long as broad, deeply constricted and sinus wide open. Cells measure 12- 20 um length, 10-16 um breadth and isthmus 3-6 um broad. Semi cells cup shaped; apical angles extended upward; cell wall granulated only at the margins; chloroplast ax1le, one per semi cell, each with a central pyrenoid.
Ecology
Collected as plankton, prefers meso-eutrophic waters.
