    Cells large, found in pairs; semi cells circular, slightly projected at apices; deeply constricted, sinus widely open. Chloroplast with a pyrenoid, one per semi cell, axile in distribution. Cells measure 19-52 µm in length, 13-27 µm in breadth, 6-15 µm broad at isthmus.


It prefers mesotrophic and circumneutral water bodies.
