    Cells straight, short, fusiform broadly rounded to slightly truncated apices; cells about 3 -5 times longer than broad; Cell measures 29-45 μm long and 8-11 μm broad. Cell wall glabrous without girdle bands and striae. Chloroplast shows 3-5 longitudinal ridges and containing 2-4 pyrenoids per cell.


It occur as phytoplankton in Oligo to mesotrophic waters of Lakes and ponds.
